Contains no shortening or butter which makes preparation time quick, and coffee which gives it a light flavoring. Traditionally a Jewish celebration cake, this delicious honey cake can be adapted for any event.
Honey Cake
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup brewed coffee
- 1/4 cup water
Procedure
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter 12-cup Bundt pan.
- Sift first 6 ingredients in bowl. Make a well in center and add remaining ingredients, whisking until well combined. Pour batter into pan and bake until cake tests clean, about 50 minutes.
- Cool cake for about 20 minutes on cake rack before turning out.
