honey cake recipe

Contains no shortening or butter which makes preparation time quick, and coffee which gives it a light flavoring. Traditionally a Jewish celebration cake, this delicious honey cake can be adapted for any event.

Honey Cake

Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup brewed coffee
  • 1/4 cup water
Procedure
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter 12-cup Bundt pan.
  2. Sift first 6 ingredients in bowl. Make a well in center and add remaining ingredients, whisking until well combined. Pour batter into pan and bake until cake tests clean, about 50 minutes.
  3. Cool cake for about 20 minutes on cake rack before turning out.
